The Volcanoes national park is a must-visit on any trip to Rwanda. It provides a unique opportunity to explore the Virunga mountains, a chain of 8 volcanoes in East Africa shared between Rwanda, DRC and Uganda. You will have experience of cycling from north to western Rwanda through potatoes, sorghum, wheat, corn crops, villages, mountains and valleys.
NOTE: your tour starts from the moment we collect you from the airport or any other location to the time you depart, or we drop you to your hotel, you will be looked after by our team.

KIGALI CITY TOUR AND TRANSFER TO MUSANZE
Start your day early with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation in Kigali. You will go for a half day sightseeing tour around Kigali city to recover from your long flight. You will eat your lunch in one of the restaurants in town and start interacting with Rwandans and foreigners. After eating your lunch you will check out from your hotel and drive about 2 hours to Musanze where you will spend your night in the Pearl guest house.
CYCLING ALONG SHORE OF LAKE RUHONDO, MUSANZE
In the morning after eating your breakfast at your hotel in Musanze, you will jump on your bike and depart from Musanze towards the southeast to Lake Ruhondo on the road heading to Kigali, in 4 km we will turn left heading to the north Heading to Ruhondo lake shore.
At lake Ruhondo, you will stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot by the lake enjoying the view of volcanoes and the twin lakes interacting with local fishermen and observing their traditional fishing techniques, if opportunities are available.
We will leave Lake Ruhondo heading to Kinigi at Volcanoes overview safaris for your night stay.

CYCLING ALONG THE VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, FROM MUSANZE TO IMBABAZI ORPHANAGE.
Early in the morning after having your breakfast with packed lunch, you will jump onto your bike for the first time cycling in the foothills of Mount bisoke and karisimbi, heading in the north west throughout villages and potato crops. The ride is tough as you are exploring the trail along Karisimbi volcano, a home of mountain gorillas, a trail few people ever experienced.
As you are riding the rolling hills, you will be welcomed by kids running after you saying abanyamakuruse, a kinyarwanda word that means cyclists. The day’s ride ends at imbabazi orphanage.

CYCLING FROM IMBABAZI ORPHANAGE TO GISENYI FOLLOWING THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN RWANDA AND DRC
This day's ride will be unique, as you will be cycling along the chain of volcanoes including Karisimbi, Mikeno, and two other ones which are still active that are Nyamuragira and Nyiragongo located in DRC which have recently erupted in may 2021. You will cycle on the dirty road with few climbs and many descents following the boundary between Rwanda and DRC through potato, maize and other vegetable crops heading to Gisenyi.
Arriving in Gisenyi you will visit a border between Rwanda and DRC, the busiest border between Rwanda and neighboring countries to learn and see the movement of people crossing the border doing their daily business activities.
During your night on the lake Kivu shores, you will reflect on your cycling adventure over a tasty dinner at a local restaurant.

DRIVING FROM GISENYI TO KIGALI
After spending your night in Gisenyi and eating your breakfast, you will be transferred to Kigali about 4 hours driving for your flight back home
