Located in the south west on the congo nile divide, Nyungwe national park is One of the oldest rainforests in Africa and is rich in biodiversity including a population of chimpanzees and 12 other primate species, the park is also known for its Canopy Walkway suspension bridge.
In the meantime, the half ride of the Congo Nile Trail starts from Kibuye to Gisenyi. It covers about 12 KM of boat tour in lake Kivu where you will visit the lake Kivu islands and ride another 60 Kilometers from Musasa to Gisenyi through Rutsiro district riding on dirty roads.

Transfer from Kigali to Gisakura via King Palace museum
After arriving in Rwanda and spending your night in Kigali in a hotel the next day we will drive you from Kigali to Nyanza for the King Palace museum located in the Southern Province, 88 km from Kigali City. The Museum offers a detailed look into the Rwandan monarchical system and its abolition in early 1960s due to colonialism. The museum is also known for the long horned royal cows "Inyambo'' . This is going to be an unforgettable experience on how the Rwandan kings lived.
After having lunch in Huye, we will continue our journey to Gisakura for your overnight stay in Chimpanzee lodge.
Chimpanzees trekking in Nyungwe National park
Very early in the morning, we will drive from the hotel to the park headquarters in Gisakura for the briefing and to allocate a guide. After a briefing by the park guide, we will drive another hour to the park. You will spend an hour with chimpanzees enjoying their way of living and after driving back to the hotel to check out and drive for 3 hours to kibuye and spend a night in the Rwiza village hotel.
Boat tour and Cycling from Musasa to Kinunu 30 KM
After having your ealy breakfast at your hotel, you will jump in the boat with the bikes, ride to the islands in lake Kivu including Napoleon hat and Amahoro(peace) islands.
Boat trip will take an hour and half, the boat will drop you off in Musasa near a coffee washing station and without delay jump on your bikes for another 15 km biking to Kinunu. There are a number of descents for crossing rivers, and ascents to climb out of the deep valleys, which makes you reach the Nile and Congo rivers divide that gives the idea of where the name Congo Nile Trail came from.
Cycling from Kinunu to Gisenyi. 41 KM
The ride starts with a long descent from Kinunu to Nkora, a small fishing village. You will cycle 41 kms through villages, banana & coffee plantations and coffee washing stations. you will have a magical evening at the beach in Gisenyi with a stunning view of the lake and swim if you prefer.

After breakfast, we check out from the hotel in Gisenyi and drive for about 4 hours to Kigali international airport to drop you off for your onward journey. You will eat your lunch in kigali.
